What a day! Students and staff were recently invited to the UK House of Lords to celebrate and participate in the launch of the National Careers Challenge 2026 with The Inspirational Learning Group An incredible event surrounded by employers and educators, all brought together to drive the futures of young people. Mrs Chamberlain was invited to speak on behalf of Astor to reiterate the importance of the project and what it offers. Whatever their background, starting point or circumstances, this project is for every child and everything is possible! We’re very proud of our students and who they have become throughout this process!

Our Sixth Form Level 2 Care students were lucky enough to welcome back a former student who is now a paediatric nurse and has extensive experience working in a busy London A&E department, as well as working in neonatal care, looking after very premature babies

A massive well done to the dance and photography students involved in the immersive ‘Elvis Is Still In The Building’ performance on Wednesday 12th November at the Maison Dieu! It was an amazing opportunity collaborating with Flexer & Sandiland and to perform in such a wonderful venue alongside MA students from the University of Chichester, The Fuddlers, and the Acting our Age dance class.

Proud to support our Armed Forces! Our Year 8 & 9 students visited the Battle of Britain Memorial as part of their CCF personal development pathway. They explored the history of the Royal Air Force, honoured the sacrifices of service personnel past and present, and took part in hands-on activities in the Scramble Experience. Outstanding ambassadors for Astor School and our local community!

We were incredibly honoured to become part of the global girl community following our recent day with the Mulberry School for Girls at the Global Girl Leading Summit Celebrating ‘The International Day of the Girl’ amongst so many inspirational and tenacious women, including Tina Tchen, Dr. Joanna Abeyie, Natalie Campbell and Baroness Nicky Morgan, has left our young ladies from Astor feeling motivated and more confident in themselves, their own ideas and the direction of their futures! Thank you to all involved in the experience, setup and delivery!

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in our recent Tag Day - together we raised a staggering £500! £250 will be donated to Dover smART Project - Young Carers, supporting the incredible work they do in our community. The remaining £250 will go towards supporting schools in Zimbabwe, helping to make a difference for children and young people overseas. We're so proud of our students and families for their generosity and community spirit. Thank you for making this possible!

Today we welcomed Charlie Heap from the Department for Work and Pensions to launch the Year 10 Work Experience Programme. Charlie took questions from the students and gave them sound advice regarding what to expect and how to prepare. If your child is in Year 10, please could you support this process by having early conversations with them, and reaching out to businesses early, to secure a placement. Further details on how to obtain necessary paperwork for placements will be sent to parents shortly.

This week, during their Humanities lessons, our Year 7 tutor groups took part in a workshop focusing on the experiences of refugees and the importance of understanding how, as a community, we can support those in need of help. Our students explored the key differences between refugees, asylum seekers and immigration, while also listening thoughtfully to Aram’s stories, kindly shared through the Samphire Project. We are very grateful to Aram and the Samphire team for their time, and we are proud of Year 7 for engaging with such maturity!

Our Level 2 Care and Level 3 Health & Social Care students recently enjoyed an inspiring session with Nick Inge, owner of iTrust. Nick spoke about the importance of whistleblowing in the care sector, sparking lots of thoughtful questions from our students. The session was fun, engaging, and even ended with a surprise gift – a free iTrust lip balm!
