Art & Design
Welcome to Art & Design Technology at Astor College. Our student journey starts with creative workshops and taster days for prospective students from local primary schools. We offer a wide range of creative specialisms within the department; providing unique and exciting opportunities from year 7 to 13. At key stage 3, years 7-9, students study skills in fine art, ceramics, photography, graphic communication, animation, electronics and resistant materials. The experience of a full, creative key stage 3 curriculum allows our students to make informed decisions when it comes to their GCSE options. At Key Stage 4, years 10 and 11, we offer GCSEs in fine art, ceramics, photography, graphic communication, resistant materials and a certificate in Construction. In years 12 and 13, students can continue their studies at AS and A Level in fine art, ceramics, photography and graphic communication. This journey prepares our students for further studies and careers in the creative industries. We have links with UCA, Canterbury Christ Church University, The Sidney Cooper Gallery in Canterbury, The Tate Modern and The Mall Galleries in London.
