Our Vision

The MFL Department aims to equip our students with the skills and confidence to use modern foreign languages, enriching their lives and broadening their outlooks.

Aims

At Astor College the MFL program is predominantly delivered through the French language, exploiting Dover's unique position as the gateway to Europe.  Other languages are taught and explored throughout KS3 and some of these are facilitated through to GCSE at KS4.

Examination Body and Other Resources

The MFL department exlusively use AQA as our exam provider, examples of past papers are available on their website alongside a suite of revision tools and examination aids (www.aqa.org.uk).

Our KS3 & KS4 online resources are provided by Pearson Active Learn.  Students all have access to complimentary exercises to the modules taught in class via the Pearson Active Learn website (https://www.pearsonactivelearn.com/default.asp) using their general school logon details.

Our KS3 & KS4 students have access to Vocab Express (www.vocabexpress.com) and are issued with Vocab Express-specific logons and passwords at the beginning of year 7.  The majority of homework set for KS3 MFL will be set on Vocab Express.  KS4 students will receive a mixture of Vocab Express homework and exam specific revision tasks.
